Our Story
A dream that started downstairs
In 2021, McKenzie cleared out her basement, moved in a second-hand upright piano, and opened Studio88 with a single student. What began as a passion project quickly grew into something much bigger — a community of curious learners discovering their own musical voice.

Every student has their own pace
There are no cookie-cutter lesson plans at Studio88. McKenzie tailors every session to the individual — whether that's a five-year-old learning to count rhythms with animal sounds, or a teenager preparing their first recital piece. The goal is always confidence, never pressure.

The studio has grown from one basement room to a bright, dedicated space filled with music books, bright rugs, and a feeling of warmth the moment you walk in. Parents feel welcomed. Kids feel excited. That environment is just as intentional as the curriculum.

Meet the Founder
McKenzie Sherman
Founder & Lead Instructor
McKenzie has been teaching piano for over 12 years, working with students of all ages and skill levels across community centres, conservatories, and her own beloved studio. Armed with a B.A. in Music Education and an infectious love for the instrument, she brings warmth, patience, and a whole lot of joy to every lesson. Studio88 was born from a simple belief: that music should feel like play, not pressure.
